A fifth generation Californian, Jeff Kuhn grew up in San Francisco and attended UC Davis, where he got his bachelor’s degree in economics and met his future wife, Carol. His career began in 1975 at Kidder, Peabody & Co., initially as a stockbroker, but he soon transitioned to the investment banking unit in San Francisco and New York, where he ultimately co-headed Kidder’s private equity desk. In 1987 he moved back to San Francisco to join Kidder’s technology investment banking group. At Kidder he gained wide experience, including IPOs, project finance, leasing, mergers & acquisitions, private placements of debt and equity, and recapitalizations. Shortly after returning to San Francisco, he left Kidder and began his career as a CFO for a series of technology companies in Silicon Valley.

In 2004 he and several other CFOs formed FLG Partners, a firm designed to provide CFO leadership, consulting, and financial expertise to technology and life science companies in Silicon Valley and beyond. As FLG’s Managing Partner, Jeff led FLG to be regarded as the pre-eminent such firm nationwide, having served nearly 1,000 clients at the time of his retirement in early 2022. That summer Jeff began a year’s service as a member of the 2022-2023 Marin County Civil Grand Jury.

Jeff and Carol have lived in Ross since 1987. Both of their now-adult children are alumni of the Ross School and Redwood High School. Carol was actively involved in the Ross Recreation Auxiliary and the Ross School PTA, and Jeff is a former Treasurer of the Ross School Foundation.
